Board Position Descriptions |
The President is responsible for presiding at the TASM meetings and Board meetings, administering the affairs of the organization, and appointing positions to the Board.
President-Elect
The President-Elect is responsible for filling the chair of the President in the absence of the President, serving in a mentoring capacity for the President, chairing the awards committee, and performing other duties as needed.
Vice-President
The Vice-President fills the chair of the President in the absence of the President, assists with the administration of affairs of TASM, is in charge of the program for the meeting, and serves as ex-officio member to the Nominating committee.
The secretary keeps an accurate record of the meetings, prepares and presents a Secretary's report for the Board meetings and business meetings, notifies members of the meetings, coordinates the election processes, coordinates the preparation and distribution of an proposed amendments to the by-laws and any changes to the constitution.
The Treasurer prepares and presents a Treasurer's report at the Board meetings and business meetings, maintains a roster of the membership, provides members with a roster each year, is in charge of all receipts and disbursements, gives an annual financial report and membership report, presents all records for audit to the Board, and prepares IRS forms.
The Past President fills the chair of the President in the absence of the President, President-Elect, and Vice-President, serves in an advisory capacity for the President, and chairs the awards committee.
The Webmaster updates the website as necessary and assists the secretary with electronic elections.
The NCTM Representative updates the TASM membership on position statements, upcoming events, national focus, national conferences and other topics deemed important by the representative, and also attends the NCTM national conference and delegate assembly.
Governmental Relations Representative
The Governmental Relations Representative updates TASM on government issues, both state and federal, concerning mathematics education and attends SBOE meetings when necessary to represent TASM.
The CAMT Representatives represent TASM on the CAMT Board for a three-year term, update TASM on CAMT conference needs for speakers, volunteers, and other areas TASM membership can assist in the state mathematics conference, and perform all duties delegated by the CAMT Board.
The Parliamentarian ensures that parliamentary procedure is maintained during the TASM Board meetings and the TASM business meetings.
NCSM Representative
The NCSM Representative updates the TASM membership on position statements, upcoming events, national focus, national conferences and other topics deemed important by the representative, and also attends the NCSM national conference.
