Dr. Misty Germaine Travel Grant

Dr. Misty Germaine was a talented and passionate educator and life-long learner. She brought her passion for student learning to work every day. Her focus and mission were for every student to believe in themselves with math and to give every elementary teacher the confidence to teach math.

Dr. Germaine graduated cum laude from SFA with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She earned a Master of Science in Education from Texas Wesleyan University in 1988. She earned a Doctor of Education from Texas A&M in 2023, completing a lifelong goal. Dr. Germaine began her career teaching second grade at Everman ISD in 1986 and later taught at Birdville ISD and Friendswood ISD. While taking a hiatus to raise her 3 beloved sons, she taught preschool part-time and was a volunteer math tutor for kindergarten students. Dr. Germaine returned to teaching in 2006 as a kindergarten teacher at Bryson Elementary. She was soon recognized for her math skills and incredible ability to work with teachers assisting them with instructional strategies. She became an instructional coach and was promoted to the EMS district math coordinator for the remainder of her career. Additionally, Dr. Germaine was an active member of the Texas Association of Supervisors of Mathematics (TASM) where she served on the board as the Parliamentarian.
